 |
DI'S CAREER suffered a severe injury when she fell after dropping her rider on the track last November 2010. She had pavement burns so severe that it took months to heal the proud flesh that covered her stifle, ankle and knees. Still trusting of humans, she and Julia have found each other and seem to be quite a match. Many thanks to Eileen Munyak for her patience with Di though her months of intense rehab. |

HBO FILMS TFH SPRING
OPEN HOUSE
Outer Drive, a four-year-old gelding who was placed into Turning For Home after fracturing a sesamoid late last year, enjoys the limelight as a cameraman from HBO films him at the
Turning For Home/South Jersey
Thoroughbred Rescue Open House in April 2009.
Our thanks to Dr. Patty Hogan, who performed surgery on the handsome grey so that he could go on to a new career as a show horse.
Last month, HBO Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel aired a follow up to their horse slaughter program from last year, and presented Philadelphia Park's Turning For Home racehorse retirement program as a positive step in which racing is taking to save Thoroughbreds when they retire from the track.
The 15 minute segment, shows very graphic images of slaughter plants, but ends on a positive note demonstrating the versatility of the breed, and the efforts that the PTHA has made on behalf of our equine athletes by starting
Turning For Home, Inc.
